Legacy Bride: Sophie, and her girl squad! Dress: Selin by L'Amour by Calla Blanche

Brides come into Legacy Bridal Boutique looking for their wedding dress, a veil, maybe even a bachelorette dress, and somehow leave having become so much more than just a bride we had the privilege of helping. Sophie was one of those brides. 🤍

From the moment she walked through our doors, she was such a light in our store. It felt like we had known her forever, and she quickly became an instant friend to our Legacy team. Her energy, her personality, and the genuine joy she brought into her appointment made her someone we knew we would remember long after she said yes to her dress.

So, when we asked Sophie to share her wedding story with us for our Legacy Bride Spotlight Series, we couldn't wait to hear all about it!

From a surprise proposal at Goldmine Trail to a moody spring wedding in Gilbert, Arizona, a whole lot of lace, and a reception where she finally let herself really soak it all in, Sophie and Cam's wedding day was every bit as beautiful and memorable as she is.

Here's the story of our sweet Legacy Bride, Sophie. ✨

From Family Friends to Forever

Sophie and Cam’s story actually started with a little help from family.

Cam’s mom and Sophie worked together, and apparently, the connection went even deeper than that, their moms had known each other since high school!

“His mom set us up :)” Sophie shared.

Sometimes the best love stories really do start with a little matchmaking. And eventually, that story led to a beautiful proposal at Goldmine Trail.

Cam told Sophie they were going to take “family pictures,” but there was a much bigger surprise waiting for her. Instead of simply posing for photos, Cam got down on one knee and asked Sophie to spend forever with him.

And it was BEAUTIFUL.

A Moody Spring Wedding in Gilbert, Arizona

When Sophie began envisioning her wedding day, she knew she wanted something a little unexpected.

Even though their wedding took place in spring, she wasn’t drawn to the typical light and airy spring wedding palette. Instead, she wanted something moodier and romantic, a color story filled with raspberry tones, blush pinks, greens, and browns.

The result was a celebration that felt warm, romantic, and completely her.

And while the details were beautiful, it was the feeling of the day that Sophie remembers most.

The Moment She Let It All Go

If there was one part of the wedding day Sophie worried about beforehand, it was the reception.

There can be so much pressure surrounding the reception: the attention, the timeline, the dancing, the traditions, and the feeling that everyone is watching you.

But once it actually happened? All of that disappeared.

When asked about her favorite moment of the day, here's what Sophie had to say:

“The reception! I was so stressed about that part leading up to it because it seemed like so much pressure and so much attention but it was not that AT ALL. I let loose and had so much fun and felt so loved. I still miss that day!””

And honestly, we love that.

Because underneath all the pretty details, that’s what a wedding day should really be about. Feeling incredibly loved and being fully present for the people who came to celebrate you.

A Getaway Car… With One Tiny Problem

Of course, no wedding story would be complete without a little family-related comedy.

When it was time for Sophie and Cam to make their getaway, there was just one small issue.

Her sweet grandpa had parked directly in front of their getaway car.

There wasn’t time to move it, so instead of waiting around, they simply had to reverse and drive around it.

Not exactly the picture-perfect getaway they probably envisioned, but definitely a wedding day memory they’ll never forget.

And honestly? Those are the stories that make a wedding day yours.

The Dress: All the Lace

When Sophie started wedding dress shopping, she already had one major requirement:

She wanted ALL the lace.

Lace was the main inspiration she had in mind going into her search, and when she found the gown here at Legacy Bridal Boutique, it checked every box.

But knowing you want lace and knowing you’ve found your dress are two very different things.

For Sophie, the moment she knew was pretty unmistakable.

“I quite literally cried when I saw it on!”

And that was it.

The lace she had envisioned. The feeling she had been hoping for. The dress that made her see herself as a bride.

It was such a special moment to get to see her light up in her dress! Luckily, you'll never find more tissues than a bridal shop!

“I Was Just at the Wrong Store!”

Sophie’s experience with wedding dress shopping is one we hear often, and one that perfectly captures why finding the right bridal boutique matters.

Before coming to Legacy Bridal Boutique, Sophie had visited another store. She left feeling disappointed and wondering if that was simply what wedding dress shopping was supposed to feel like.

She told us that after her first experience, she remember thinking, “Is this what dress shopping is? Anticlimactic?”

But then she came to Legacy.

“I was so wrong, I was just at the wrong store!”

And that is why we do what we do here at Legacy, we put so much care into every experience, every interaction, every moment you are with us.

Because finding your wedding dress should feel exciting. It should feel personal. You should feel celebrated, listened to, and comfortable enough to actually enjoy the experience.

Here at Legacy Bridal Boutique, our goal is always to create that kind of experience, the kind where you can laugh, try on the dress you never thought you’d like, bring your people into the moment, become besties with your Stylist, and have a ton of fun along the way.

Sophie’s Advice to Future Brides

If Sophie could give one piece of advice to another bride beginning her wedding dress search, it would be simple:

Try everything.

Even the dresses you’re convinced you won’t like.

“Try on everything, even if you think you won’t like it and it matters who you bring with you!”

And we couldn’t agree more.

Sometimes the gown you walk past on the rack is the gown that makes you cry when you put it on.

And sometimes the biggest difference between a disappointing shopping experience and an unforgettable one is simply finding the right boutique and the right people to share it with.
