Emily & Thomas’ Elegant Gilbert, Arizona Wedding

We love getting to hear what our Legacy Brides remember most about their wedding days! The moments that made them laugh, the small but important details they loved, and especially how they felt when they finally found their dress.

For Emily, her wedding dress journey is a great reminder that you don't have to know exactly what you're looking for when you walk into a bridal shop. Sometimes you just need to have a general idea, trust your Stylist, and give yourself permission to step outside of the box.

Emily came to Legacy Bridal Boutique with a vague idea of what she envisioned for her wedding dress. She knew she wanted an A-line gown with a little cleavage, but she wasn't completely sure what that would look like. When Emily tried on her Legacy gown, something just clicked.

She said, “I don't know how to describe it, but when I tried it on it just felt like the right dress.”

It exceeded her expectations, and most importantly, she felt gorgeous.

That is the moment every bridal Stylist hopes her bride experiences.

From Hinge to Barcelona

Emily and her husband, Thomas, met on Hinge, and their first date was at Postino.

Fast forward to a trip to Barcelona, Spain, where Thomas had a very special surprise planned.

The couple was standing in front of the famous Basílica de la Sagrada Família, and Emily thought they were simply taking a picture together.

Then Thomas got down on one knee.

She had no idea it was coming. Emily described the proposal as beautiful and a wonderful surprise! And I think we all have to agree that getting engaged in front of one of the most recognizable landmarks in Barcelona is pretty unforgettable.

From a first date at Postino to a surprise proposal in Spain, the next chapter of their story brought them home to Gilbert, Arizona, to say “I do.”

A Classic Celebration at Villa Siena

Emily and Thomas didn't really have a specific wedding theme.

Instead, they were going for a classic, somewhat elegant vibe, with a color palette of lilac and silver.

Their wedding was held at Villa Siena in Gilbert, Arizona, a venue Emily says was gorgeous and did a wonderful job.

She also had nothing but wonderful things to say about the vendors who helped bring their day together.

But when we asked Emily what her favorite moment from the entire wedding day was, her answer wasn't about the flowers, the food, the venue, or even the reception.

It was their first look.

The First Look

For Emily, the first look was one of the few moments during the wedding day when she and Thomas were truly alone... well, aside from the photographers. 😉

And that made it especially meaningful.

She described it as a beautiful and emotional moment, and there was an extra-special detail that we love:

Thomas LOVED her dress.

After spending so much time searching for the gown and wondering what her future husband would think when he saw her in it, getting that reaction during their first look must have made the moment even sweeter.

Emily said it was her favorite part of the day.

And we can understand why.

With friends and family surrounding them for so much of the celebration, having those few quiet minutes together gave Emily and Thomas the chance to really take in the fact that they were finally getting married.

Finding the Dress

When Emily started wedding dress shopping, she had a general vision:

An A-line silhouette.

A little cleavage.

That was about it.

She shared that vision with Dani, her bridal Stylist helping her at Legacy, and she remembers Dani made her feel comfortable, listening to what she wanted, and coming up with great ideas.

She tried on many beautiful dresses before finding the one and when she did, she didn't need to talk herself into it.

It just felt right.

Emily said the dress exceeded her expectations and that she felt gorgeous in it.

We think that's such an important distinction.

You don't necessarily have to walk into your appointment knowing exactly what your dress looks like. You just need to be open to discovering it.

“Trust the Process and Don’t Rush It”

Emily's advice to future brides is something we think is worth remembering:

“Just trust the process and don't

rush it.”

Legacy was only the second bridal shop Emily visited. At the first shop, there was a dress she liked.

But something drew her to Legacy Bridal. And that decision led her to the dress she ultimately wore on her wedding day. Her experience is such a good reminder that liking a dress doesn't necessarily mean you've found your dress. You need to LOVE your dress, not just like it.

Try the dress.

Listen to your stylist.

Pay attention to how you feel. Because at the end of the day, this is a decision of the heart, not the mind.

Emily trusted the process, and she found the gown that made her feel exactly how she wanted to feel on her wedding day.

The Details That Made Their Day Special

Emily and Thomas had an incredible group of vendors helping create their wedding at Villa Siena.

Villa Siena hosted the celebration and provided their wedding coordinator.

Their photographers were Leslie Ann Photography, with Andrea as their lead photographer.

Emily specifically called out their photography team as a favorite, saying they were amazing and far exceeded their expectations. They made the experience more fun, special, and memorable, which is exactly what you want from the people capturing such important memories.

For flowers, Emily admitted that she doesn't know much about florals, so she simply gave Blume Events LLC her wedding colors and overall vibe and let them take it from there.

And the result was gorgeous.

Marcus from Ray the DJ handled the music and kept the celebration going, while Piece of Cake Bakery created their wedding cake.

Emily said the cake was both beautiful and delicious, and apparently the guests agreed, because everyone was talking about how good the cake and the food were!

Sometimes the best wedding planning strategy really is knowing what you care about, communicating the overall vision, and trusting the professionals to do what they do best.

A Honeymoon Worth the Splurge

After all the excitement of wedding planning, Emily and Thomas headed to French Polynesia for their honeymoon.

They visited Taha'a and Bora Bora, where they stayed in overwater bungalows. And this wasn't just a random honeymoon choice. Staying in an overwater bungalow had been a bucket-list experience for both of them.

Emily admitted that it was expensive, but after everything that went into planning their wedding, she said it was worth it. She described the trip as beyond gorgeous and very relaxing, which was exactly what they needed after the stress of wedding planning.

We'd say they chose the perfect way to start married life together.

Looking back at Emily's wedding journey, one of our favorite parts is that she didn't have everything figured out when she started shopping.

She trusted herself.

And eventually, she put on a dress and simply knew it was right.
